NEARLY 200 TROMBONISTS SERENADED THE COMMUNITY AS ANAHEIM GARDENWALK HOSTED THE 8TH ANNUAL
“TROMBONE CHRISTMAS ON THE WALK”
(ANAHEIM, CA) – On Saturday, December 16, the Anaheim GardenWalk hosted the 8th Annual “Trombone Christmas on the Walk,” a FREE, live one-hour concert featuring nearly two-hundred professional, hobbyist and student trombone players. The special holiday concert included 16 festive songs including holiday classics “Silver Bells,” “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas,” “I’ll Be Home For Christmas” and “Holly Jolly Christmas.” James Miller, associate principal trombone player with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, was the Grand Marshal of this year’s concert and conducted half of the 16 numbers. Amy Bowers, who plays for a local symphony, also provided a solo for one of the pieces.
“The “Trombone Christmas on the Walk” promotes and encourages the fellowship and musicianship of slide trombone players, and, we are thrilled that Anaheim GardenWalk can be a part of this event and bringing holiday cheer to the community,” said Robin Weeks-Wynne, senior director of marketing and tourism at GardenWalk.
Douglas Grieve, a musician, started the event eight years ago, and approached Anaheim GardenWalk about hosting an all-trombone concert for the holidays. Each year, the number of trombonists grows, and, this year’s concert featured 30 more players than last year.
